In these cold months, there is much talk about which is the best heating method for our homes that combines savings and energy efficiency, comfort and respect for the environment. We hear about stoves and their many advantages quite often, but perhaps a little less about pellet boilers.
In this article, we will explain what a pellet boiler is, how it works and how it differs from a heating stove.
Are you ready to change the way you heat your home?
La Nordica-Extraflame's pellet boilers are the result of a careful process of research and innovation which, thanks to the know-how resulting from over 50 years of experience in the sector, has made it possible to create an innovative, versatile and efficient product for heating your home.
As with a stove, in order to operate the pellet boiler, fuel must be placed in the appropriate tank which, due to the peculiarity of the appliance, must have a greater autonomy than other products.
For example, in our models, the capacity of the standard tank is about 75 kg, but there is then the possibility of increasing it thanks to additional tanks, which can be purchased as an option, which allow even greater autonomy and therefore complete convenience of use.
Once the tank is filled, a motor automatically loads the pellets into the brazier. Here, as you can guess, it is burned. The heat from this process is transmitted through the flue gases to the water in the heating system via an exchanger, thus reaching the entire house. If required, it is also possible to produce hot water for sanitary use in combination with a puffer that allows it to be stored so that it is always available when needed.
If, therefore, your need is to produce domestic hot water all year round and heat the radiators in winter, the pellet boiler is definitely the right choice because, unlike the heating stove, it is not installed directly in the house, but in a technical area that is not inhabited, and it transfers all the heat directly to the thermo-hydraulic system without diffusing it into the surrounding environment.

Our models are also equipped with effective automatic cleaning systems, numerous combustion control and safety sensors, and are built with selected premium materials that make them a complete and reliable solution for the comfort of your home.
For a correct choice of a pellet boiler, it is important to take stock of certain aspects of the home and the type of system present. For example: heating requirements of the home and the system; type of heating system present (radiators, fan coils, radiant panels); type of distribution system (single-pipe, twin-pipe or manifolds); indication of whether, in addition to heating, the boiler is also intended for the production of domestic hot water; the most suitable type of storage tank (domestic hot water cylinder or puffer); presence of an anti-condensation system.
For a precise analysis of all these factors and to choose the most suitable model for your home, we always advise you to rely on the experience and professionalism of a specialised technician who will provide you with all the necessary support.
A well-designed system in fact guarantees
complete safety in your home
optimal comfort
high efficiency of the heat generator
maximum savings
less wear and tear on components and therefore a longer service life for the appliance.
La Nordica-Extraflame's PR series pellet boilers are the ideal solution for heating your entire home efficiently, economically and with maximum comfort.
The effective automatic cleaning systems of the shell and tube heat exchanger and burner, together with the integrated ash extraction and compaction system, make it possible to significantly reduce routine maintenance operations without sacrificing performance. Performance is in fact optimised thanks to the efficient PWM circulator, the reliable ceramic glow plug and the numerous performance detection probes (thermal probe in the combustion chamber, pellet tank level probe and thermal and pressure safety probes).
The standard presence of wheels for movement and the convenient hydraulic connections located directly on the upper part also greatly facilitate installation operations, not forgetting the double possibility of choosing the smoke outlet between the upper and left side. Completing the already rich equipment are the new Black Mask display with integrated Wi-Fi for remote management with the new "Total Control 2.0" dedicated App and the standard system expansion board for complete integration of the boiler with the system of your home and maximum management of comfort in every room.
